Camp BELIEVE

july 23-28, 2023 at Brigadoon Village

Registration for Camp BELIEVE & Camp Kedooopse is now open!

Camp BELIEVE is an overnight summer camp for children and youth aged 10-18 who are impacted by a parent or guardian’s mental illness. The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is proud to partner with Brigadoon to make Camp BELIEVE possible.

Mental illness does not discriminate. It impacts people of all ages, genders, races, and economic backgrounds. Parents/guardians who struggle with mental health concerns may worry about the impact their illness has on their children. Camp BELIEVE is a place where kids can create meaningful connections with others who have similar family experiences, try a wide range of camp activities, and build valuable skills that will help them to be successful outside of camp, as well. All of this takes place during a week full of exceptional fun!

Campers will discuss their parent/guardian’s mental illness, learn about mental health, and develop healthy coping skills to take home with them. To benefit from this camp experience, campers should be willing and able to take part in these discussions and skill-development sessions.

Camp Kedooopse is the first overnight summer camp of its kind in Atlantic Canada for children and youth ages 7-18 who are experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one.

Camp Kedooopse is an opportunity for campers to connect with each other, learn new skills, and make new memories in an inspiring and supportive environment.

Campers will take part in grief sessions in which they discuss their loved ones, work to process their grief, and learn healthy coping skills. To benefit from this program, campers should be willing and able to participate in these discussions and develop these skills.
