Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia Awards Community Grants

The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is pleased to announce its second round of 2019-2020 Grants have been awarded. A total of $97,000 in funding has been granted through the Foundation’s second round of Compass Group Canada and Community Grants.

The community organizations that have received funding through the Compass Group Canada Community Grant are the Dartmouth Family Centre and ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services. The Dartmouth Family Centre will be providing Drop-In Community Cooking Classes to youth, adults and seniors at their North Dartmouth facility. ElevateHER will be hosting Putting Down Roots, a food literacy program for female-identified youth in Colchester East-Hants.

The 15 community projects that have received 2019-2020 Community Grant second round funding are:

·         Adsum Association for Women & Children – PeerWorks Training Program

·         Alice House – Live Safe Counselling and Support Program

·         Coverdale Courtwork Society – Wellness Inside: Incarcerated Women’s Mental Health Program

·         CMHA Halifax-Dartmouth – Mental Health Community Coffee House & Summer Jam

·         Eating Disorders NS – Peer Mentors: Building Capacity

·         Family SOS – Healthy Relationships Plus Programming at Greystone

·         Healthy Minds Round the Loop – Community C.A.M.P.F.I.R.E.S. Pilot Project

·         PAC Autism Nova Scotia – ANS TV: Video Project Club

·         Pathways to Employment – Youth Life Skills Project

·         SchoolsPlus – Stomping Out Mental Health Stigma

·         Sou’West Nova Transit Association – Increasing Access to Mental Health Programming

·         Tatamagouche Centre – Therapeutic Narrative and Play

·         The Youth Project – Safer and Healthier Transgender Youth

·         Veith House – Newcomer Women 4 Women Program

“We genuinely care about Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction and their circle of support,” says Starr Cunningham, President & CEO. “These programs will make a difference in the lives of Nova Scotians from one end of the province to the other while providing hope and eradicating the stigma so often associated with mental illness and addiction.”
