Why We Need You
We Care.
We genuinely care about Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction, and their loved ones. We are also care about increasing funding to mental health and addiction initiatives throughout Nova Scotia. Initiatives that are right in our own communities. So Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction can access the programs and services they need in order to thrive. That’s where you come in. We need you to care. To enable us to fund initiatives that provide hope to those living with mental illness and addiction.
The need is GREATER than we can fund.
With the support of our generous donors, we have provided more than 5.5 million dollars to mental health and addiction initiatives in Nova Scotia since 2006—but we need you to help us raise that much annually. Each year the demand for financial support grows. In 2019-20 we were able to grant just one fifth of the funds requested by worthy organizations and individuals. Together we can raise money to fund innovative and accessible mental health and addiction initiatives.
Your support will help us:
Remove barriers to mental health programs & services
With your help, we can replace illness with wellness.
Investing in community initiatives will help Nova Scotians access the supports and services they need no matter where they live. Your support directly impacts the lives of countless Nova Scotians, and their loved ones, by donating to programs that build confidence, self-worth, respect, and social support. Funding community-level mental health initiatives province-wide, will provide treatment options in neighbourhoods across the province. It will also increase the likelihood that people living with mental illness and addiction stay on the path to recovery.
Provide hope from Yarmouth to Glace Bay
You can give the gift of hope.
Mental illness affects us all. Investing in community initiatives will directly impact the lives of more than 200 thousand Nova Scotians this year alone. Through vital services like peer support, counselling, therapeutic recreation, gardening, music and art, as well as mental health literacy, we will help Nova Scotians living with mental illness believe that recovery is not only possible, it’s probable.
Challenge preconceived notions of mental illness & addiction
Eradicating stigma means changing the way people think.
We support organizations and individuals whose programs and services empower positive change, promote reintegration, and help shed the stigma. We invest in mental health initiatives developed by Nova Scotians who are passionate about changing the way people think about mental illness and addiction.
