Building Resiliency After Adversity

Welcoming newcomers to Nova Scotia means providing them with the best chance at a new life including mental health support.

In partnership with the Immigration Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS), the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is funding urgent mental health programming for refugees. Building Resiliency: A Trauma Stabilization Group for Newcomers is a 10-week group therapy initiative that provides newcomers with the skills to better manage the acute symptoms associated with PTSD and its associated triggers. Facilitated by a Psychologist expert in Trauma Therapy, the group involves coping skills, practice opportunities, and psychosocial education to assist participants in managing their symptoms.
