FAQ - NSMHA, Central zone gRANT APPLICATIONS
q: hOW ARE grant applications evaluated?
A: Grant applications are evaluated by a committee of independent reviewers. Each reviewer scores the application based on the following questions:
-Does it address a unique need and will it have a measurable impact?
-Does it empower positive change and promote reintegration?
-Does it demonstrate collaboration and partnership?
-Is the project relevant?
-Is the project sustainable?
-Is there a vision for future growth?
-Is the budget clearly outlined and does it provide value for the money requested?
-Will the project transmit its learning to the rest of the Mental Health & Addictions Program?
Q: Will I be notified if my application is not successful?
A: Yes. All applicants will be notified when the committee has completed evaluations.
Q: I've noticed funding for community grants is now available quarterly. does this also apply to nsmha, central zone grants?
A: No. At this time, we are only offering annual funding for NSMHA, Central Zone grants.
Q: I work within the Nova Scotia Health Authority. Should I apply for funding under the Nova Scotia Mental Health & Addictions, Central Zone Grants?
A: NSMHA, Central Zone grants are designated specifically to Mental Health & Addictions programming within the Central Zone of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. If you do not work within this sector of the Nova Scotia Health Authority, we ask that you submit your application under our Community Grants Program. Please review the criteria on the NSMHA, Central Zone Grants page in addition to that on the Community Grants page to ensure your program is eligible.
Q: Do I receive funding all at once?
A: No. Successful applicants will receive 70% of their funding up front. The remaining 30% will be released after the completion of the interim report.
Q: What is the interim report?
A: The interim report is required by the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia to ensure accurate and anticipated use of funds. It is a way for grant recipients to demonstrate the success of their project. It also allows the Foundation the opportunity to share positive stories throughout the year.
q: IF MY APPLICATION IS NOT SUCCESSFUL, IS IT AUTOMATICALLY CONSIDERED FOR FUNDING THE next year?
A: No. However, you may choose to re-apply the following year. We recommend updating and editing your application.
q:IF I RECEIVE FUNDING, CAN I APPLY AGAIN next year?
Q:can i apply for more than one grant in the same year?
A: Yes, as long as the projects are unique.
