Remember Someone at the Holidays
For many of us, the holiday season is a joyous celebration with family, friends and loved ones. But for the 1 in 5 Nova Scotians living with a mental illness, the holidays are often a challenging time filled with isolation, stigma and financial uncertainty. The idea of the “holiday spirit” may seem unattainable.
But through your donation to our Stockings for SCOT Program, we can make a real and positive difference this holiday season. The Supportive Community Outreach Team (SCOT) Program emphasizes hope, recovery and empowerment, providing service where and when it is needed for individuals striving to for independence. Using a holistic approach, a multidisciplinary team of case managers provide comprehensive care and involve the patients in their own treatment as much as possible.
Each year, the SCOT case managers ask, “If you had a holiday wish, what would it be?” The response is always the same - simple comfort items: socks, hats, gloves, coffee, underwear, books, candy, and more importantly, knowing that someone cares. Your donation of $50 can make their wishes a reality and fill a personalized gift stocking with comforts of the season.
