A native of Nova Scotia, Colleen has lived most of her life in this beautiful seaside province. Colleen works primarily in oils and enjoys still-life, landscapes and portraits.  Her style of painting can be described as classical realism, using techniques of the old masters, with her work glowing from within as the richness of colour slowly builds up through layers of glazing transparent pigments over opaque layers of paint. 

Inspiration to paint comes to Colleen from the beauty of simple everyday objects.  Cooking, collecting old dishes and antiques, gardening, pets and her rugged seaside homeland provide most of her painting subjects.  Colleen’s work has been acquired by collectors throughout Canada and the USA and she currently exhibits her original work, as well as reproductions, with co-op artists who manage the gallery Art 1274 Hollis Street.
