(HALIFAX) The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia recognized nine individuals and businesses for their dedication to mental health with a 2010 Vision Award at its Annual General Meeting this past Thursday.
The categories and recipients are as follows:
Outstanding Volunteer
- Shawna Homburg-Beaumont, vice-president, Residential Real Estate, Atlantic Canada for Homburg Canada
- A tremendous supporter of Festival of Trees who has made a demonstrated commitment to good mental health.
- Mary Black, Contract Sales for National Art
- A wonderful volunteer who has devoted her time and talent to the Foundation’s Provincial Grants Committee and the Festival of Trees art gallery.
Partners in our Vision
- CBS Outdoor
- A generous supporter of the Foundation’s 2010 province-wide awareness campaign through the donation of billboards and transit shelters.
- CTV
- A key partner in our province-wide awareness campaign and continued supporter of the Foundation’s Opening Minds Capital Campaign.
- The Chronicle Herald
- An ongoing supporter of mental health through the Foundation’s awareness campaign, golf tournament and Festival of Trees.
Outstanding Achievement
- Dr. Emmanuel Aquino, psychiatrist, Capital Health
- A true advocate for peer support and a wonderful example of our own hospital supporting the Foundation.
- Tom Ruth, president & CEO for the Halifax International Airport Authority
- A spectacular champion for mental health, Tom raised more than $132,000 for mental health as Roy Orbison in A Different Stage of Mind.
- Premiere Executive Suites
- A leader for mental health awareness with their Mental Health Above All fundraising project and a long-standing supporter of Festival of Trees.
The Vision Awards acknowledge those individuals and organizations who share the Foundation’s vision of good mental health for all Nova Scotians.
Through their tremendous support of the Foundation and its mandate, these supporters are truly helping to Change the Way People Think about mental illness.
