Kitchen Party Capital Campaign

Thank you to our amazing Kitchen Party hosts and sponsors for supporting the Opening Minds Capital Campaign!

On April 30, the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is launched its first-ever capital campaign in support of mental health in the Province; Opening Minds. This ground-breaking capital campaign aims to raise $3 million dollars to support a new model of care for individuals living with mental illness.

$2 million will go to support the Community Living Initiative; a new living arrangement for patients who have had a period of stabilization in hospital but require further support before transitioning back into the community. We are building four residential-style housing units, each with the capacity to accommodate 10 patients that still need support and access to life-skills coaching and mental health services.

$1 million will go to support community-based outpatient services that will allow individuals to incorporate treatment and support into their day-to-day lives.

What is a kitchen party?

A kitchen party is the ultimate east coast celebration and the perfect opportunity to get together with friends, family and neighbors. It can be a potluck dinner, a corporate barbecue or an intimate gathering of close friends- the possibilities are endless.

Why should I host a kitchen party?

As the host of a kitchen party, you are encouraged to collect donations from your guests. These donations will go towards the Opening Minds Capital Campaign; the first-ever capital campaign in support of mental health in Nova Scotia.

How do I host a kitchen party?

As soon as you register to host a kitchen party, you will receive an official Host Kit that explains the details associated with hosting a party. Then it’s up to you to decide what kind of party you want to host, who you want to invite and where you will have it.

When can I have a kitchen party?

In support of National Mental Health Week, we are asking hosts to have their parties May 7-9, 2010.
