Events, Announcements and Launches - oh my!
Wow, what an exciting time it's been for the Foundation these past few weeks. With A Different Stage of Mind—The Variety Show, our fantastic Killam Properties gift announcement and the upcoming launch of our first-ever capital campaign, Opening Minds, we have a lot to be thankful for. The outpouring of support we have seen from our community is just outstanding and truly an inspiration to continue in our mission to raise awareness about mental health.
A Different Stage of Mind—The Variety Show
On Friday, we celebrated the 7th annual A Different Stage of Mind--The Variety Show presented by BMO Bank of Montreal. From police chases, to sequined jumpsuits and a sea of yellow sou'westers, it was truly a memorable evening. We already have next year's performers lining up to take the stage!
Thanks to our incredible performers, agents and supporters, we raised a stunning $213,000 for mental health in Nova Scotia.
The evening was full of dancing, laughter and some heartfelt words dedicated to the cause so near to our hearts, mental health. For those of you who weren't able to make it to the show, we were pleased to welcome to the stage:
· Dennis Campbell of Ambassatours Gray Line as Angus Sou’Wester
· Dr. Howard Conter and his son, Adam, as The Blues Brothers
· Mike Hachey of Egg Films and Shawn King of Extreme Group as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
· Shannon MacDonald and her colleagues at Deloitte as ABBA
· Tom Ruth of Halifax International Airport Authority as Roy Oribson
Thank you for getting us to Primetime!
Killam Properties Gift Announcement
On Monday, February 15, we followed with a very generous gift announcement from Killam Properties; a $135,000 donation to our Opening Minds Capital Campaign. This gift will have an immediate impact in the lives of people affected by mental illness.
This contribution is in conjunction with the 250 Homes project led by the Capital District Mental Health Program. This project aims to provide affordable rent and customized mental health support to 250 Nova Scotians living with mental illness.
A special thank you to Reg Marshall who shared his incredible story about living in a Killam Properties apartment-- you reminded us just how important this program really is.
Opening Minds Capital Campaign launch
